The lower chamber of Poland's Parliament (Sejm) on Friday okayed a report of Sport Minister Adam Giersz on the implementation of undertakings related to Euro 2012 soccer championships and Poland's preparation for the event.
Giersz told the Sejm that UEFA as early as in May 2009 issued a positive opinion on Polish preparations making a final decision that matches will be played in Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw.
The UEFA decision changed the system of priorities, Giersz said. 45 investments were named key important and 37 -- important. The first group included stadiums, road and railway connections between host cities as well as modernization of airports.
Also in 2009 a law on mass events safety was amended that will influence security during Euro 2012.
Giersz admitted that not all planned motorways, express roads and railway connections will be concluded before the championships, but he assured deputies that the main connection between Poland's western border, and Gdansk and Warsaw will be ready.
The Euro 2012 soccer championship will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine from June 8 to July 1, 2012.
