Airbus Sees Raised Demand for 27,800 Aircraft by 2030

European aircraft maker Airbus on Monday said it expect a strong demand commercial aircraft in the next 20 years, according to the company's newly released Global Market Forecast.
According to the forecast, Airbus predicted some 27,800 passenger and cargo aircraft would be sold for a total of 3.5 trillion U.S. dollars between 2011 and 2030.
The number would push the global passenger fleet to double from today's 15,000 to 31,500 in 2030.
Airbus also forecast that the Revenue Passenger Kilometers, an indicator for airline traffic, would grow by an average of 4.8 percent per year over the next 20 years.
According its estimation, the growing demand is stimulated by growing population with increasing wealth, dynamic economic growth in emerging countries, continuous growth in North America and European markets, and general urbanization process.
Geographically, from 2011 to 2030, the Asia-Pacific region will account for approximately 34 percent of air service demand, followed by Europe with 22 percent and North America with 22 percent.
Country by country, India is projected to see the fastest growth rate at 9.8 percent by 2030, followed by China with 7.2 percent.
In addition, the demand for superjumbos like A380 able to hold over 400 passengers would grow as well, the company said.
"The aviation sector is an essential element for today's global economy which is why more people than ever need and want to fly," the Airbus statement quoted John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers as saying.
