Bremen Cotton Index unchanged

Write: Alroy [2011-09-03]
The October quotes in New York moved more or less sideways with little fluctuations, compared to the situation during the last season. The quotes of the Cotlook A and CIF Bremen Index were also almost unchanged. On the domestic market calm business remained, although some more contracts were negotiated compared to the previous week. Positive news came sporadically from the processing industry, but in general uncertainty predominated concerning the further development of cotton prices and demand for yarn. There is a difficult time with limited availability of good quality cotton until arrivals of new crop. Many inquiries of spinning mills were for orientation without buying purpose and most of the turnover aimed for nearby covering purchases out of existing stocks and ongoing shipments. Pima cotton was merely bought for deliveries during the next year.
In the upland range were traded: West Africa, Brazil and Argentina for the 3rd and 4th quarter 2011, West Africa for the 2nd quarter 2012 too.
Contracts for LS/ELS cotton were reported in Egyptian Giza 86 for prompt until 3rd quarter 2011, US Pima and Israel Pima for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2012.
