According to Mr. Patel, the board projected India s next season crop to be 35.5 million bales (170 kg each) and the projected acreage for the next season (October 2011- September 2012) is 29.9 million acres (12.1 million hectares). The expected acreage for this season ending on September 30th, 2011 is 27.52 million acres.
A well known cotton trader, who wished to be anonymous in speaking to this scribe last week advised that India will produce at least 35 million bales (170 kg each) in the next season ending on September 2012.
