Write: Shammara [2011-10-08]
Japanese apparel giant World has bought Fashionwalker, the online fashion site for girls in their teens and women under-30, at a cost of 1.1 billion yen (US$ 14.3 million).
Fashionwalker was founded about a decade ago by Branding, the company known for Tokyo Girls Collection and girlswalker.com. Fashionwalker s online site sells around 300 brands and recorded sales of eight billion yen in the year ending August 2011. It has a membership of nearly 600,000.
The latest acquisition by World will add to the company s online expansion after the recent launch of its web-based store and an outlet within the Amazon s Japan portal. World is expected to benefit from the expertise of the Fashionwalker team in fashion information delivery and database management.
