President Hu on Commuter Train
The President s first stop was Beijing South Railway Station. It is the new terminal for express lines bound for the coastal city of Tianjin and the economic hub of Shanghai.

Wearing a white sleeved shirt, Hu stepped onto a China Railways High-speed (CRH) train that shuttles between the Beijing South Railway Station and the neighbouring Tianjin Municipality. Hu Jintao took a trial ride on the recently-finished express railway between Beijing and Tianjin. The railway is China s first that supports speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour, cut travel time between the two cities to 30 minutes.

"The high-speed trains have been a milestone in the history of China s railway development," he told rail officials and stewards while on board. He stressed the need to provide safe and fast service during the August Games.
The inter-city shuttle will transport Olympic spectators, athletes and other passengers during the Games. Some football preliminary matches will be held in Tianjin. The high speed train, CRH3 Hexie , is made by CNR Tangshan Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. cooperated with Siemens. Hu satisfy the quality, speed and comfort of CNR train.

Hu then went to Dongzhimen Subway Station in downtown Beijing to test out the express train to Capital International Airport. When arriving back to the Dongzhimen metro terminal in the capital s downtown, Hu purchased a ticket from an automat machine and test rode the train on the new line to the Beijing Capital International Airport. The train was built by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd.
The 20-minute trip took Hu Jintao to the world s largest airport terminal. Launched in March, it now has the capacity to host 300 planes at the same time.

Hu Jintao told Beijing authorities that good transport will play a key role in ensuring a smooth Olympic Games. The president said the new infrastructure is part of China s promise of a "safe and fast track towards the Olympics".
