Macao's Health Bureau announced on Friday (Feb 11) that it will provide all local residents with free flu vaccines in an effort to combat the coming wave of influenza.
The Bureau said in a statement that the authority decided to expand the object of free inoculation to all residents as more and more severe or serious flu cases were reported among youths and healthy adults rather than high-risk groups, including children, old people and patients with chronic illnesses.
The Bureau called on local residents to get free inoculation as soon as possible, emphasizing that inoculation is the best way to prevent seasonal influenza.
According to the Bureau, Macao's flu season is expected to come in February and March.
Macao government has purchased 90,000 doses of seasonal flu vaccines for local residents to be inoculated so far. As of Feb. 10, a total of 68,837 residents of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) have been inoculated with seasonal flu vaccines.
