Quality authorities in south China's Guangdong Province has tightened radiation checks on food products imported from Japan, according to Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau on March 16.

Guangdong s foods imported from Japan are mainly food additives, seasonings and starch products. No such items declared clearance since the nuclear plant explosion in Japan after last week's earthquake, announced the bureau.

On late Tuesday, the country's top border quarantine authority, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said it had asked local bureaus to strengthen risk analysis of radioactive materials entering the country and check for radioactive material at ports.
