Dongguan is to spend 4.8 billion yuan on its infrastructure construction this year, according to the Financial Budget Report of the Year 2010 released on January 20, 2010.

The Report shows that the total fiscal budget is to reach 21.58 billion yuan, an increase of 4.2 billion yuan, i.e. about 25% from last year.

Excluding expenditure on governmental departments, procurement, judicial and public security organs; a substantial portion of the budget will be spent on education, social insurance, supporting the development of scientific technology, economy and infrastructure construction. The expenditure on education and social insurance amounts to 5.62 billion yuan, accounting for 26 percent of the total budget and thereby showing an increase of 1.15 billion yuan since 2009, which reflects the Governments' resolution to improve public livelihood.

The expenditure on infrastructure construction will amount to 4.74 billion yuan, accounting for about 22 percent of the total and more than that on the other projects.

Expenditure on education, social insurance, science and technology, and infrastructure accounts for about 60% of the total budget for the year 2010. Demonstrating political dedication to achieving the keynote for the fiscal budget this year, which is to improve the livelihood and to maintain economic growth.
