Recently, Fenggang, Houjie, Shijie, Qiaotou and Liaobu townships in Dongguan have been confirmed as the central towns in Guangdong Province. In total there have been 13 townships in Dongguan confirmed as central towns in Guangdong, in addition to, Humen, Chang an, Shilong, Zhangmutou, Tangxia, Changping, Machong, and Dalang.
Central towns in Guangdong Province are selected from townships with comprehensive power via policy guidance and will be constructed into the economic and cultural center for a certain region so as to drive the development of surrounding areas.
