A Guangdong Province woman decided to accept a 640,000-yuan ($ 95,941) cash offer from a company she blamed for an accident that left her husband permanently unable to have sex.

The woman, identified only as Wang, dropped her case after the employer, a petrochemical company in Dongguan, offered 640,000 yuan to cover her husband's injuries and for depriving her of a "right to have sex," the Dongguan Times reported Thursday.

Wang, 28, and her husband were both employed by the same company.

They were on the petrochemical company's construction site mixing cement in April when a newly installed steel door fell and struck the man, the report said.

The accident injured his genital, but it was called a secondary disability by the hospital although her husband lost his ability to engage in sexual activities, the paper said.

Wang later sued the company and asked for 200,000 yuan ($30,014) compensation plus other damages.

According to the report, the No.1 Intermediate People's Court in Dongguan accepted the cause, but before both parties went to trial, the court mediated a settlement.

Zhang Xingshui, a senior lawyer at Beijing Jingding Law Office who has no connection to the case, said he felt "delighted" after hearing about the settlement.

He said that while many people lose their ability to perform sexually, a legal regulation to protect a person's sexual rights is a new thing.

He said the court's acceptance of the case was a "breakthrough."

Wang is not the first person to fight for compensation over sex.

In 2006, Kong Chengcai, 37, was paralyzed from the waist down after an accident as he tried to install a communication line for a company in Chuxiong, Yunnan Province.

His wife successfully sued his employer and won the case.
