Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. will spend USD 25 million in building a panel plant in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, south China, which will be engaged in the production and distribution of TFT-LCD products. Its production will begin in March or April 2011.
Earlier, Hon Hai totally invested more than USD 144 million in panel business in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, Chongqing Municipality, Nanning City, Guangxi Autonomous Region and Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province.
Hon Hai Board Chairman Terry Gou has announced that the company aimed to become the world's second largest panel maker by making full use of the influence of Chimei Innolux Corporation. He intends to spin off the latter's touch panel division for an independent listing this year. Chimei Innolux is also planning to build an 8.5G panel plant in Mainland China.
