MoviStar Chile deploys Comba antenna systems hardwareand software in 3G network
(1 June 2010 Santiago, Chile) Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited ( Comba or the Group , Hong Kong stock code: 2342), a leading wireless solutions provider, announced it has been selected by leading operator Movistar to supply a network optimization solution for its Chilean wireless network. With the Comba solution installed, the operator will be able to manage and optimize its multi-vendor remote electrical tilt (RET) antennas in its network. The project is notable in being the first ever RET supervision system implemented in Latin America.
Working with local partner, Interexport Chile, Comba s solution will include the provision of antenna remote control units (RCUs), central control units (CCUs) to interface with multiple RET antennas, and installation of Comba s proprietary Comba Electrical Tilt Software (COMETS) that allows remote management of the antennas from a single interface and seamlessly integrates with major third party network status management tools to close the optimization cycle efficiently.
Compared with other RET management systems in the market, Comba s solution is highly adaptable and compatible with third party base station antennas - thereby eliminating the need to have multiple management systems in a network deploying equipment from differing antenna manufacturers. Featuring IP connectivity, the COMETS system will allow Movistar engineers to remotely manage and adjust RET settings from a control center or via corporate intranet. Through such a combination, the solution thus enables effective and rapid RF network planning and optimization processes.
Mr. Juan Carlos Avalos, Interexport s Sales Director said This project is remarkable for being the first of its kind in the region and we are pleased to work with Comba and Movistar Chile to implement the solution. We believe that by integrating the RET antenna management system into the overall network optimization cycle, Movistar will soon realize efficiencies in management and OPEX.
Mr. Patrik Westfalk, Regional General Manager of Comba said We are delighted to be part of this project. By deploying Comba s RCU, CCU and COMETS in the network optimization solution, operators such as Movistar will have the flexibility to have a single system to manage all of their RET antennas in their network. Through eliminating the need for multiple and disparate RET management tool for each antenna brand, Comba s solution empowers the operator to realize cost savings for each site by having greater flexibility in choice of antenna brands .
