SOHO China Wins the First Public Tender of a Piece of Land in the CBD of Beijing

Mr. Pan Shiyi, Chairman and Co-CEO of SOHO China, signed the land acquisition agreement with Mr. Liu Laixiang, Director of the CBD Office of Beijing Land Reserve Center on June 9 in Beijing Conference Center. The Land, numbered NW07-1, is the first piece of land in Beijing s CBD area available for public tender. SOHO China and two other developers bid for the piece of land, and SOHO China finally won by paying RMB 714 million to the government.
Located at Lane 4, Guandongdian, NW07-1 is one of the most important planned developments of Chaowai Commercial Street in the CBD. Its gross floor area is about 110,000 square meters. SOHO China has invited Zaha Hadid from the UK, Toyo Ito from Japan and Herzog & de Meuron from Switzerland to participate in the design competition. The development will be mainly offices and commercial, and SOHO China hopes the design will be a breakthrough.
According to the Beijing government, the total gross floor area of the newly built buildings will reach 8 million square meters of the CBD by 2008, and SOHO China alone has so far developed and is developing (including the newly acquired site) about 1.5 million square meters.
