A training session for peacekeeping officials, jointly held by China's Ministry of National Defense and the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, was completed on Friday in Beijing.
A total of 33 peacekeeping officers from 14 countries, including China, Russia and Canada, attended the 12-day session, the first of its kind to be held in China.
China regards participation in international peacekeeping missions as an important way to perform its duty as a responsible country and safeguard world peace, said Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army, said in a meeting with the peacekeeping officers.
Chen, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said China would continue to participate in UN peacekeeping missions.
China has sent nearly 150 military officers to attend international peacekeeping training sessions.
In November 2010, the Ministry of National Defense's Peacekeeping Center was listed as a key international peacekeeper training base. These bases are used by the UN to hold training sessions for peacekeeping officials.
