On the evening of April 28, a lecture on the theme of Comparing American & Chinese Cultures was delivered by Mr. Tong Yat Ping, a Hong Kong-born Chinese-American philanthropist. The lecture focused on the similarity and difference between Chinese and American cultures in regards to values, social relations, social ceremonies and social customs.
Mr. Tong Yat Ping visited Zhaoqing University between April 17 and May 3 as a teaching volunteer, and during this time he trained students for speech contests, supervised student job interviews, and delivered lectures to both teachers and students at the Foreign Languages Faculty.
Mr. Tong is committed to the charity work, especially in the development of education in mainland China. He is a member of the council at the Fuhui Charity Foundation, Hong Kong. He was a volunteer at a normal school in Hubei Province for 3 years. This is his third visit to Zhaoqing University.
