It was recently reported by Changjiang Daily that HUST alumnus Wang Ning, who currently works in Illinois University, with his team had made a significant discovery in the field of stem cell research. Wang NingWho graduated with a master s degree of bioengineering from our university in 1984, is the only doctoral candidate in the field of physiology admitted to Harvard University that year. Presently, he is also the guest professor of HUST.

During the interview, Donald Ingber, cell biologist of Harvard University commented that It is a very inspiring undertaking. The following research will help scientists find out how the mechanical force works on the differentiation and development of stem cells.

The progress in this field may also be conducive in the treatment of many currently incurable diseases, such as senile dementia, heart disease, diabetes, and neurological decline.
