A Professor from Cornell University Paid a Visit

From Nov.21st to Dec. 5th, Professor Joe Regenstein of Department of Food Science and Technology, Cornell University, visited Jiangnan University Professor Joe Regenstein s visit was made available by the joint support from both Chinese (JU) Programs of Cornell University President s Fund and the regular foreign experts cooperation program of JU.

During his visit Professor Joe Regenstein and Professor Chen Jian, President of JU, conducted a detailed discussion regarding the cooperation to found an English international journal specialized in food science which would be led by JU. As for the proposed journal, President also kindly invited Professor Joe Regenstein to be the editor of American side.

Professor Joe Regenstein gladly accepted this invitation and expressed that they would work closely with JU to make this journal a world-class one. As well, staff and students of School of Food Science and Technology, along with students of intensive training classes, got the privilege and pleasure to enjoy the inspiring academic reports delivered by Professor Joe Regenstein.

Altogether, he delivered five reports, namely Preparing Paper for Scientific Publication Fish Collagen and Gelatin Introduction to Kosher and Halal Food Regulations Muscle and Muscle Proteins and Egg and Egg Proteins , and exchanged views with staff and students regarding some topics of common interest.

Also included in his itinerary was the visit to National Key Lab of JU and a tour of the experimental facilities at School of Food Science and Technology. At the same time, he conducted in-depth discussion with staff and students at National Key Lab. The advanced facilities as well as the academic capabilities deeply impressed Professor Regenstein that he gave high praise to JU s R&D competency on food science and technology and expressed his sincere hope to further promote the cooperation with JU.
