President Mr. Liang Gengyi of National Yang-Ming University Paid a Visit to SJTU

President Zhang Jie Met the Guests and Signed the Cooperation Agreement

On the morning of February 25, SJTU President Zhang Jie met with the visiting delegation led by President Liang Gengyi of National Yang-Ming University in the Meeting Room of New Administration Building on Minhang Campus.

President Zhang Jie briefed the guests on the SJTU history, development process and rapid achievements made in recent years. After introducing the situation of Yang-Ming University, President Liang Gengyi praised "SJTU as the pride of the Chinese people", and expressed the good wishes to carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation with SJTU.

Subsequently, focusing on scientific research, medicine development, faculty and student cultivation, the two sides held a cordial and friendly conversation to exchange views on issues of mutual interest and lay the foundation for further cooperation in the future. Later, on behalf of the universities, Zhang Jie and Liang Gengyi signed the student exchange and academic exchange agreement between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and National Yang-Ming University.

The delegation led by President Liang Gengyi also visited the SJTU School of Medicine and Ruijin Hospital, and would visit Med-X Research Institute and School of Life Science, Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine and the labs concerned as well. At the forum, the delegation discussed the issues on scientific research and medical research with persons-in-charge of SJTU School of Life Science and Shanghai Center for Systems Biomedicine.

National Yang-Ming University, formerly established in 1975 as Yang-Ming Medical College, acquired its present name in 1994. As a university based on medicine, biotechnology and life science, it now consists of School of Medicine, School of Biomedical Science and Engineering, School of Life Sciences, School of Nursing, School of Dentistry, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
