Two  World-Known  Scholars  Invited  as  Honorary  Professors  of  ECUST

On invitation of President Qian Xuhong, Professor James N.Seiber and Professor Murray Moo-Young, two conferees of The First International Conference on Clean Energy, were invited as Honorary Professors of ECUST on November 21st. The appointment ceremony was held in the third meeting room of YiFuBuilding, where President Qian awarded the two professors the Letter of Appointment.

Professor James N. Seiber, now the chief director of American Agricultural Ministry West Research Center and a professor with Environment toxicology Department, Davis Branch College, California University, once worked as a member in American California Environment Protection Bureau Risk Evaluation Committee, Atmosphere Resources Committee, American West Pesticide Laboratory and National Science Academy. And since 1998, Professor James N. Seiber has been the chief editor of Journal Agricultural and Food Chemistry published by American Chemistry Association. The AmericanWestResearchCenter, which is headed by him, is a world-known biological engineering research institution, mainly dealing with the application of farm and side-line products and the improvement of environment quality, and its research ranging from forage modification with molecular biotechnology to cellulose biological fuel and biometallurgy.

Moo-Young, a professor with University of Waterloo in Canada, is one of the major founders of biochemical engineering subject and the chief editor of many well-known international academic journals. For his outstanding achievements, Professor Moo-Young has been awarded in Canada, America and other countries no less than 10 prizes and honor, among which are Marvin Johnson Prize in America, Excellent Technology Prize of American Industry and Trade Department, Technology Transfer Merit Prize of Canadian Cooperation of Government University and Industry, and Canadian Innovation Prize on new biotechnology research.

At The 1st International Clean Energy Conference, Professor Seiber and Professor Moo-Yong presented lectures entitled Study on Transformation from Farm produce to Biological Fuel and Biological Repair and Biological Energy Resource Circulation respectively. They highly commended on the subject arrangement and development, and said that they would make effort to promote the international communication and cooperation of ECUST. Both parties have exchanged views on further cooperation and have expressed initial cooperative intention on students and teachers exchanges and joint scientific researches.
