Experience of Yellow River Management embodied by the Third UN World Water Development Report

On March 16th, UNESCO officially released the Third UN World Water Development Report titled Water and the Changing World on Istanbul World Water Forum. The Yellow River basin, as a first Chinese basin, becomes a typical case study embodied by the World Water Development Report.

The Third UN World Water Development Report is compiled by relevant UN organizations, evaluating the global situation of water resources and management in general. In recent decades, the exploration and practice of Yellow River management have drawn the worldwide attention, and thus it was selected by the World Water Development Report as a case study, to introduce the experience of Yellow River management.

YRCC delegation attended the release ceremony with the invitation of UNESCO, and presented a keynote report on the integrated water resources management of the Yellow River. Mr. Nagy, Deputy Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, presented the book and corresponding CD of the Report to Vice Director of YRCC Mr. Xu Cheng,and they both expressed the wish of enhancing the cooperation and exchange between UNESCO and YRCC, as well as coping together with the future challenges raised by the global water resources.
