Australia waits to hear FIFA bid outcome

Australia s fate will be decided in Zurich, come Friday. The country had bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Rival bidders for the FIFA are the United States, Japan, South Korea and Qatar.
Together with an official website, support from the NSW Government and a live site to be erected in the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay ahead of Friday s announcement, the Football Federation of Australia is gearing up for good news.
However, Australia s projected revenues for the World Cup ranked last amongst its competitors in a recent study carried out by management consultants, McKinsey, on behalf of FIFA. According to SBS news as quoted in eTravel Blackboard, Australia requires new arenas in Perth, Canberra and western Sydney, major upgrades in Adelaide, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Geelong and Townsville, and minor upgrades at Sydney's two big centres, the SFS and the Olympic stadium.
