On April 5, 2010, CGGC Equatorial Guinea Branch held a ceremony in the District of Ela Nguema of the city of Malabo, and handed over four civil water wells, a public welfare project it undertook in the local community to Malabo on behalf of CGGC. The mayor and the vice mayor of Malabo, the project manager of the client and relevant officials of the Equatorial Guinea Branch (Project Department) attended the handover ceremony.
Since undertaking the urban sewage pipeline network and sewage treatment system project in Malabo in February, 2008, CGGC has actively performed its social responsibility under the concept of paying back to the Equatorial Guinean society, and creating welfare for the local community , disposed of the domestic garbage in the city area for local residents, and dredged the drain pipe with a total length of more than 700m.
The four water wells donated free of charge cover the major population settlements in Malabo, including the District of Ela Nguema and the District of Semu. Each well can satisfy the daily water demand of 500 people, so the project greatly improves the living conditions of the nearby residents.
The mayor of Malabo delivered a warm address at the ribbon cutting ceremony. She said, The friendship between the Chinese people and the Equatorial Guinean people has a long history. Since its entrance to the Equatorial Guinea, CGGC has always focused on the well-being of the local residents, and made an active effort to help local residents resolve problems. Water is the source of life. No water, no life. In the past period, the Equatorial Guinean people suffered great pain from the unavailability of water. Today, CGGC has added a refulgent record to the Chinese-Equatorial Guinean friendship. These wells resolve the dilemma of drinking water shortage faced by the local community. We appreciate our great Chinese friend for providing such clear and convenient drinking water sources for our residents!
On behalf of the Equatorial Guinea Project Office, the project manager of the client of the Malabo urban sewage pipeline network and sewage treatment system extolled CGGC for its involvement in the public welfare of the local community, and voiced the confidence that CGGC would definitely complete the project in progress to contribute to the development of the Equatorial Guinea.
At the ceremony, the principal of the Equatorial Guinea Branch acknowledged the Equatorial Guinea for their trust, and CGGC would make more contribution to the public welfare of the local community to the extent of its capacity.
After the ceremony, the mayor of Malabo and other government officials checked the wells in the company of the managers of the Equatorial Guinea Branch and various subcontractors, and tasted the clean water in person. Everywhere they went, the major would stress to the local residents that it is the Chinese friend had provided the clean and convenient drinking water source, and asked them to value this affection and take good care of the water supply facility. The local residents also sang and danced, and exclaimed "!chino,bi n!" (Chinese friend, great!).
