ZTE, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has signed a framework agreement with KPN to provide mobile data connectivity devices for the HSDPA network of the Dutch operator. ZTE will provide the MF628 USB modem to KPN for its Mobiel Internet customers who have high speed laptop connectivity, enabling those users to access the Internet from almost any location in the Netherlands at home, in the bus or even in the park.
ZTE s MF628 USB modem includes a microSD slot for up to 4GB of storage to enable users to easily share and move data on multiple devices. The modem will connect to KPN s reliable and fast HSDPA network and is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista, and MacOS X operating systems.
ZTE is delighted to also announce, with this agreement, a three year extension of our partnership with KPN, said Mr Lin Cheng, ZTE s president for Western Europe The launch of our first mobile data card with KPN earlier this year shows that ZTE is able to deliver on the high quality standards and customer needs that are key to KPN s market proposition. We are looking forward to working with KPN to meet the demand for mobile broadband services in the Netherlands.
Peter Westgeest Director Hardware, at KPN Group comments: KPN is happy to sign this framework contract with ZTE, after the successful launch of the MF626 USB data modem in March this year. The demand for mobile data services has been higher than expected, so we are pleased to partner with ZTE to drive the adoption of mobile broadband services in the Netherlands. ZTE s products fit well into KPN s offering, so we are looking forward to continuing our excellent relationship with one of the world s leading telecoms manufacturers.
Willem van Oppen, CPO at KPN Group, continued: It is important for KPN to have good global sourcing in place and Asian companies like ZTE have shown to be a good fit for us in that perspective because they are able to offer quality products and services at highly competitive prices. KPN is committed to establishing partnerships with companies that pursue the same high standards in terms of quality of service and customer relationships. ZTE has proven to be a great partner in our drive to respond to the increasing demand for mobile data services in the Netherlands.
In 2005, The WFIA, in cooperation with the NFIA, assisted ZTE with their international business expansions. ZTE chose The Hague as the location for their European Headquarters to be in close proximity of the strong telecom cluster in West-Holland.
