Newly Integrated EPON Platform Enables MSO`s to Stay Competitive and Capitalize on New Revenue Streams by Offering Customers Greater Value Added Services DENVER--(Business Wire)-- SCTE Cable-Tec Expo

ZTE USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced the availability of its industry-leading DOCSIS compliant Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) solution which allows multiple system operators (MSO`s) to deploy optical distribution network architectures for residential, commercial and mobile backhaul applications. The new solution enables MSO`s to leverage their fibre resources to deploy EPON based multi-play services without any changes to the existing DOCSIS-based back-office system. All new EPON services are provisioned with MSO`s existing mature DOCSIS back-office system. ZTE`s highly integrated network equipment and new DOCSIS control plane enables MSO`s to compete with the telecommunication operators in the overlay market, maximize revenues on new services and future-proof existing networks, delivering savings on routine maintenance, operational costs and other additional capital expenditures.

ZTE`s DOCSIS compliant EPON solution allows MSO`s to deliver additional customer services via adaptable optical network units (ONUs) that support HSD, VoIP, video (IPTV or RF overlay) and mobile backhaul services. Now MSO`s are able to take a more competitive approach to the market by offering value added service capabilities to support residential, commercial and mobile backhaul applications.

* In commercial applications, ZTE`s EPON solution offers the increased bandwidth, large network scale, security requirements and the proven network reliability expected by commercial customers. Certified MEF-9 and MEF-14 features enable MSO`s to deliver carrier Ethernet service to customers.

* In residential applications, MSO`s are able to offer QoS guaranteed triple-play services for an improved end user experience at competitive prices. EPON compliant RFoG solution allows for the co-existence of video RF service and newly deployed EPON services.

* In mobile backhaul applications, MSO`s can transport both traditional TDM service and Ethernet traffic from cell sites seamlessly over the same EPON infrastructure. The EPON mobile backhaul solution is a cost-effective, carrier Ethernet class and high QoS guaranteed solution prepared for 2G/3G/4G wireless deployments.

"ZTE`s EPON solution is serving millions of EPON subscribers around the world today, and we`re proud to extend its benefits to the U.S. market. Our products have proved to offer the reliability, maturity and stability MSO`s require in order to build highly effective and competitive Ethernet passive optical networks," said Dr. George Sun, CTO of ZTE USA. "ZTE is fully committed to be the strategic partner for U.S. MSO`s. Today`s announcement is another step in giving MSO`s the advantage they need to strive for a competitive stake in the market."
