Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Torch Relay was kicked off on August 28th at Beijing. The relay covers 13,181 kilometers in 9 days passing 11 cities in China. Among all the torchbearers there are fourteen representatives from Bank of China, who will participate in the relay in 4 cities, namely Wuhan, Shanghai, Nanjing and Beijing.
The torch relay at Wuhan was kicked off on August 31st. Five torchbearers from Bank of China ran with the flame on this stop. They are Mr. Yue Yi, Global Head of Head Office Personal Banking Business, Mr. Chen Dalin, Vice President of Hubei Branch, Mr. Liu Dachuan from Sichuan Branch Mianzhu Sub-branch, Mr. Qing Feng from BOCSC Mianyang Sub-branch and Mr. Zhong Yong from BOCSC Dujiangyan Sub-branch. The latter three are heroes from the Sichuan Wenchuan Earthquake in May.
On September 1st, the flame arrived at Shanghai, the third stop on the Modern China Paralympic Torch Relay route. Mr. Wang Zhaowen, General Manager of the Head Office Management Office, participated in the relay in the college park of Shanghai Songjiang New Town.
The Beijing Paralympic Torch Relay continued its journey in Nanjing, the fourth stop on the "Ancient China" route of the Paralympic Torch Relay. Six torchbearers from Bank of China ran with the flame at the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum. They are Mr. Zhou. Zaiqun, Vice President of the Bank, Mr. Chen Tianjun, President Assistant of Tianjin Branch, Ms. Hong Junying from Shanghai Branch, Mr. Wang Jianshou, Vice President of Gansu Branch and Ms. Luo Ying from Shannxi Branch. Mr. Zhou Zaiqun was the second torchbearer.
To better promote Olympic and Paralympic spirit and to enhance our corporate brand, BOC Jiangsu Branch coordinated with relevant government agency for better arrangement and organized about 200 cheering fans to hail for the torchbearers.
The Beijing leg of the 2008 Paralympic torch relay began at on the morning of September 5 and end on September 6. Mr. Liu Ziqiang, Chairman of The Board of Supervisors, ran with the flame at the China Millennium Monument and Mr. Zhao Meng, Vice President of Beijing Branch, passed the torch on the waters of Kunming Lake.
