BOC Chairman Surveyed Shenyang and Qinhuangdao Branch on Olympic Financial Service Preparation

From June 24 to 26, Chairman Xiao Gang surveyed Shenyang and Qinhuangdao Branch on Olympic financial service preparation. Chairman Xiao heard reports by Liaoning Branch, Hebei Branch, Shenyang branch and Qinhuangdao Branch, and discussed measures to solve remaining problems. After the meeting he inspected the Olympic venues and BOC outlets.

Other members of the inspection group are Yue Yi, global head of personal banking sector, Yang Shihua, global head of banking operation sector, and persons-in-chief from the Office, Bank Card Center, Security Department, IT Department, Information Center, International Settlement Department, Banking Department, Labors Union Committee, Customer Service Center and Olympic Affairs Office. Chairman Xiao pointed out that the Bank has three main tasks this year, namely Earthquake Relief, Olympic financial service, and fulfillment of this year s operation goal.

As the Banking Partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Bank of China is entrusted with tough but honorable mission. The world s attention on the Games poses both challenge and opportunity on the bank. After four years of preparation, the bank has full confidence and resolve to perform the tasks well. Every branch especially the six branches at Olympic cities should put the head office s requirement into effect and perform Olympic financial services well.

A few key requirements are:

- Pay more attention to practical things and details, where the risks are most likely to appear;

- Improve preparations on the services and emergency plans; made adequate estimation of possible problems and difficulties;

- Conduct further emergency rehearsals on financial service, security and IT support, so as to handle problems as soon as possible;

- Strengthen public opinion monitoring and communication with government and media agency so as to increase positive media coverage.
