Write: Ordway [2011-05-20]

Recently, in the selection of the "Best Investment Bank in China" held by Securities Times, ICBC was honored the "Best Bank in Investment Banking" and the "Best Bank in Restructuring and Merger & Acquisition Practice"; at the same time, the "Project of Bao Steel Group Restructuring Guangdong Steel Industry" consulted by ICBC won the "Best M&A Project".

The industry holds that ICBC, taking the development strategy of modern commercial banks and actively promoting the transformation of management and growth model, established the department of investment banking in 2002, ahead of other domestic banks. Through years of practice, ICBC has taken full advantage of its capital strength, information resources and service network to provide highly effective and professional investment banking services for its clients.

By now ICBC has promoted four major categories of investment banking services composed of consultancy, M&A, assets transfer and securitization, and direct financing, and more than ten investment banking service lines, which have developed by leaps and bounds for seven consecutive years, taking lead in China and making ICBC the largest investment bank in this industry.

Especially in recent years, ICBC has implemented the national macro-control policies and industrial development plans, and relying on its rich service experience, executed a number of significant major projects in mergers and acquisition, equity financing, structured financing, financial management, corporate bonds, asset securitization and other investment banking service areas. Such projects are taken as examples for the industry, and have obtained recognition by both ICBC's peer financial institutions and clients, which greatly enhanced ICBC's brand value.

While ICBC is growing into the market leader and standard setter in domestic investment banking industry, it has also gained tremendous returns from this business. From 2002 to 2008, its average annual compound growth rate is over 85%. Investment banking has become the largest source of revenue and a new profit increasing point among ICBC's intermediary businesses.
