On April 27th, 2009, ICBC held the first awarding ceremony in Beijing to grant the "Touching ICBC" award. Ten employees from the basic units of ICBC won this honor.
The selection of "Touching ICBC" employees is an important measure taken by ICBC to commend employees in the basic-units for their moving deeds and contribution to promoting ICBC's enterprise culture. By recommendation from bottom up, 106 candidates with touching stories were selected from over 400,000 employees.
Then the selection committee, adhering to the principle of fairness and impartiality and in strict accordance with the selection standards, highlighted the element of "touching" and picked out 30 final candidates. Lastly, through voting by the committee as well as the whole staff of ICBC, ten "Touching ICBC" employees were elected.
Among the ten employees selected in the first "Touching China" selection of ICBC, there is the client manager who has dedicated to his job and treated his job with enthusiasm and respect; the technical employee who nearly lost sight for promoting technical innovation; the model figure who went to the site of the earthquake to give relief; the branch manager who, with fatal illness, "raced against time" to work.
These people have attached priority to the interest of the whole and devoted themselves to work. Their deeds and mental journeys have moved every ICBC employee deeply and filled them with encouragement. During the two-hour awarding ceremony, warm applauses echoed in the hall and many employees were moved to tears.
The Party Secretary and Board President of ICBC, Mr. Jiang Jianqing, pointed out in his speech that, since the establishment of ICBC twenty five years ago, there have emerged a number of outstanding employees and model figures, whose noble moral characters and touching deeds have never stopped to inspire generations of ICBC employees to blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit, to aim high and to strive to make achievements.
The ten employees who received the award are excellent ones who represent the over 400,000 ICBC employees. Their deeds reflect the spirit of modern ICBC employees who build sincere bonds with customers, fulfill their duties faithfully and uncomplainingly, explore new fields and technologies with eagerness and assiduity, perform their tasks with a strong sense of responsibility, and constantly strive for perfection.
Meanwhile, President Jiang also expressed his hope that the employees of ICBC, with a sense of the time and their historical mission, take up the responsibility to enhance the development of ICBC, take the model figures as examples to improve their work ethics and service quality, and by putting the inspiration into action, write new historical chapter for ICBC with their enthusiasm, intelligence and strength, and achieve more accomplishments in building up a top-class modern banking enterprise in the world.
