ICBC won four major awards in the recent selection of "Best Corporate of Asia" 2009 -- China Region by FinanceAsia, the most authoritative journal on capital market of Asia. The four awards are, "BEST CORPORATE GOVERNANCE", "BEST INVESTOR RELATIONS", "BEST CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY", and "MOST COMMITTED TO A STRONG DIVIDEND POLICY", thus making it the most award-winning listed banks of Mainland China.
"Best Corporate of Asia" is the most representative award in the Asia-Pacific capital market, held annually since 2000. For the current selection, altogether there were 200 investors of international institutes and analysts of investment banks participating in the nomination and voting procedures. The awarded enterprises were selected through the overall evaluation of their corporate governance, management capability, investor relations, and corporate social responsibility, out of over 200 Chinese-funded enterprises listed in Hong Kong.
The four awards ICBC won reflected that professionals of capital market and global investment highly recognize ICBC's achievement in terms of corporate governance, management of investment relation, information disclosure, corporate social responsibility and dividend distribution.
According to ICBC's official, since ICBC was listed in Hong Kong and Shanghai synchronously, the bank strictly adheres to laws, regulations and relevant regulatory requirements, and recognizes the improvement of corporate governance as the basic project to enhance its core competitiveness. The bank has been taking continuous efforts to ameliorate its corporate governance structure, and to improve the operating mechanism of the general meeting of shareholders, the board of directors, the board of supervisors and the senior management. As a consequence, the bank has obtained wide praise from investors, regulators and the public. In the single year of 2008, it won over 10 significant awards by institutes of authority and media both at home and abroad, including the "Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Award", the "Best Board of Directors of Listed Companies in China Award", and the "Gold Award of Best Corporate Governance Disclosure", etc.
