ICBC Bill Business Department Becomes First to Receive ISO9001: 2008 Certificate in China

Recently, after the annual follow-up assessment of the management systems of ICBC Bill Business Department, the British Standards Institution (BSI), an authoritative international certification institution of quality systems standards, has announced that the ISO 9001 Certificate of ICBC Bill Business Department remains effective and agreed on the transition of its ISO 9001: 2000 to ISO 9001: 2008.

The achievement marks the 7th consecutive successful follow-up assessment of the Bill Business Department and its branches, which also makes it the first banking institution to be certified with ISO 9001:2008 in China.

In the assessment, the BSI Group, reportedly, has adopted the sampling scheme concerning the risk control requirements of both the banking industry and the audited institution, and has carefully assessed the maintenance and preparation for transition of the Bill Business Department's management systems, so as to test the continuous conformity, validity and improvement of quality management systems. The assessment has finally noted that the operation of the audited areas was valid and authorized the transition to ISO 9001: 2008.

As is reported, the Bill Business Department of ICBC has officially imported the ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management Systems since the end of 2002, and has creatively integrated the ISO 9001 Standards with bill business operations in practice, in order to develop an internal management system that is bill business specific and oriented.

Over the 7 years, with the continuous efforts in improvement and development of the Bill Business Department headquarters and its 8 trans-regional branches, the quality management systems have become an important means of elevating the core competency of ICBC's bill business, of effectively enhancing ICBC's service quality and the customer's satisfaction, and of achieving an excellent brand in the industry.

The pioneering accreditation of the ISO 9001: 2008 Certificate of ICBC Bill Business Department among the counterparts in this country will encourage development in the building of internal management systems and regularization of management in the industry.
