ICBC's outstanding business operation and sustainable development capability recently won the recognition from Emerging Markets as the best bank in Asia, according to the newspaper's Banking Achievement Poll of this year. ICBC proved its mettle again to win this year's title of "Banking Achievement 2009, Asia."

Emerging Markets is one of the publications under Euromoney Institutional Investor Group and a leading provider of information and data covering the economic development of emerging markets. The Banking Achievement Poll is a yearly review conducted by the newspaper on emerging markets as Asia, Africa and Latin America. The winners are announced at the annual summit of World Bank(WB) and International Monetary Fund(IMF).

Emerging Markets gave the highest decoration of this year's review to ICBC. The newspaper cited ICBC's accelerated pace in the side-step reform of business and market expansion despite the backdrop of the global financial crisis which drags the world's economies in the doldrums. It also noted the strong profitability growth of the bank to maintain its leading position as the biggest bank in the world in terms of market capitalization and deposit scale. Emerging Markets also praised many achievements of ICBC. The bank performs well in its business strategy and embraces process sophistication in its income structure, lending structure and investment structure. ICBC's emerging services such as investment banking, credit card, wealth management, corporate annuity and E-banking are standing at the every front among the peers. The bank sharpens its service commitment and international competitive edge by concentrating on the integration and internationalization and breaking new ground by looking outside its borders and integration of service. ICBC's corporate governance has been improved and standardized in every aspect ranging from mechanism, system and efficiency.
