ICBC Donates RMB 11.284 million to Qinghai Quake-Hit Area

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Yushu county of Qinghai Province on April 14. ICBC, once the quake broke out, immediately took all measures to arrange financial services for the relief. Meanwhile, all ICBC subsidiaries and staff enthusiastically sent their donations to help the victims get through the devastating quake.

Unofficial statistics shows that ICBC and staff altogether have donated RMB 11.284 million as of April 21. ICBC Qinghai Branch also donated cotton-wadded quilts and foodstuffs worth RMB 500 000 to the disastrous areas. Currently the donation is still in progress at all level of ICBC branches.

On the day when the earthquake broke out, ICBC required all branches and subsidiaries to be ready to receive relief money and donations from the society. A "green channel" is set up for the relief work. ICBC reserves the most eye-catching location at the portal for the donations. ICBC ensures the opening of "Donations" on Internet Banking and Mobile Banking 24 hours a day to receive donations.

All donations are exempted from banking charges. Those who want to donate just click "Donations" and choose one charity organization to continue. ICBC is the account opening bank of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, China Charity Federation and Red Cross Society of China. In this regard, ICBC pulls out all the stops to receive donations on their behalf.

It's now a race against the clock, ICBC makes sure staff and devices are enough in place to handle the donations.

At the earthquake areas in Qinghai, ICBC started the emergency plan to make all the preparations for the disbursement and cash delivery in order to ensure the smooth disbursement of emergency cash for the relief. Meanwhile, financial persons of the relief units, army is one of them, are kept informed of the phone numbers of the ICBC contacts and counter staff. They can call ICBC staff anytime whenever cash is required for the relief work.

At present, ICBC takes all sources of information to know more about the amount of money required for the relief. Special procedures are adopted to make sure loans are released to the quake-hit areas.

According to the ICBC spokesperson, ICBC will watch closely the earthquake relief progress and offer all the support to the disastrous areas and people. ICBC will also help them to fight against the devastation, recover production and build their homes again.
