ICBC Bankcard Services Are All Set for 2010 Asian Games

As the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games drawing near, ICBC being the only banking partner is all set to offer bankcard services during the Games. By the end of July, over 10 million Asian Games bankcards have been issued and become more accessible. All service facilities and measures are in place for the delivery of best-quality, safe, highly efficient and convenient bankcard services for the Asian Games.

In an effort to streamline bankcard acceptance during the Asian Games, an executive with ICBC said that ICBC has prepared a bankcard logo for merchants who can accept card payment to display. This will attract cardholders from home and abroad, when seeing the familiar logo, to use card to pay, safely and easy.

ICBC also held special training on card acquiring service for the merchants in Guangdong to improve their service and business skill. ICBC has also installed more self-service devices in Asian Games key areas with increased monitoring and maintenance on the devices for stable running. Standards have been set on the logo, transaction slips, operation guidelines (English and Chinese) in order to provide best environment for the cardholders to bank at these devices.

Meanwhile, ICBC embarked a nationwide campaign on the "Asian Games Gold Glass Merchants Kick-Off" and attracted a total of 4614 discount merchants (restaurants, hotels, sports/body fitness, leisure, entertainment, travel) joining the Asian Games discount merchant circle by the end of July. Out of them, 1918 ICBC Asian Games Credit Card merchants can offer special discounts for Asian Games card holders.

The ICBC executive also related that ICBC continued to improve its bankcard service capacity for Asian Games by stepping up its efforts on the set-up of VIP customer service centers, opening a further 31 in the country during the first half of the year. Guangdong has 16 VIP customer service centers with 5 newly set-up covering all the areas around Asian Games venues and co-sponsoring cities.

A full range of primary services, emergency services and value-added services to overseas cardholders during Asian Games are supported by these centers. ICBC also set up a service hotline to attend the calls during the Games. Emergency steps have been lined up to serve the customers and merchants timely on special cases: problems in using credit card, emergency cash advance, emergency card replacement, emergency adjustment of credit limit, emergency report of stolen or lost card, and emergency service support for the merchants.
