A 914 16mm grade X120 longitudinal submerged arc-welded pipe was successfully manufactured in April by the 1st Machinery Works of CNPC Huabei Petroleum. X120 is by far the highest grade of steel used for pipes, which is characterized by its high intensity, excellent elastic restoring and high alloying element content. The machinery works developed an X80 steel pipe in 2004 and an X100 steel pipe in 2006, and then successfully trial-produced the 914 16mm grade X120 steel pipe in April. The steel pipe body and welding seam all have perfect mechanical properties, including intensity, impact toughness and hardness. |
