China and Chad sign joint venture refinery agreement

On September 20, witnessed by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Chadian President Idriss Deby, CNPC President Jiang Jiemin and Emmanuel Nadingar, the Minister of Petroleum of Chad, signed an agreement for the establishment of a joint venture refinery company between CNPC Int'l. and the government of the Republic of Chad in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The refinery, jointly invested by China and Chad, is located to the north of N'Djamena, the capital of Chad. CNPCI is in charge of all engineering construction, and Chinese design specifications, manufacturing standards and mechanical equipment shall be adopted.
