At 8:30am on May 18, Zhang Guobao, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission and Director General of the National Energy Bureau, provided on-the-spot guidance at Lanzhou-Chengdu-Chongqing Branch of CNPC's Pipeline Company, which is located in the quake-hit zone. The Lanzhou-Chengdu-Chongqing Pipeline is an important means of providing oil products to Sichuan, which guarantees the stability of the market. And now it is a lifeline for earthquake rescue activities in Sichuan Province. Zhang asked for details about the operation and deliverability of the pipeline, and expressed his satisfaction with emergency measures taken by CNPC to cope with the earthquake. He acknowledged that CNPC had played a vital role in rescue efforts through the timely resumption of the pipeline's operations. Since operations restarted at 12:38pm on May 13, the pipeline has delivered 82,000 cubic meters of diesel oil and gasoline to the quake zone. Its transmission capacity and oil storage have returned to pre-earthquake levels. |
