In 2010, Changqing Oilfield produced 18.25 million tons of crude oil and 21.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, i.e. 35 million tons of oil equivalent, 5 million tons more than last year. Oil and gas output of the oilfield is expected to reach 40 million tons of oil equivalent this year.
In 2010, 539 oil and gas exploration wells were drilled in Changqing Oilfield, resulting in newly increased oil and gas equivalent reserves of over 1.5 billion tons.
On June 29 2010, daily crude output of Changqing reached 50,000 tons. The field's gas production hit alltime high for several years with the daily average output over 60 million cubic meters in 2010. In particular, Sulige gas field produced 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, contributing half of Changqing's total output. The annual yield from extreme-low-permeability reservoirs amounted to 4 million tons, representing a new growth point of Changqing crude production.
The Changqing Oilfield, distributed in 61 counties in Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi with its main body lying in the Ordos Basin, is China's second largest oil and gas field only second to Daqing Oilfield.
