The lottery ticket sales in China reached 75.6 billion yuan ($11.1 billion) in 2009, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said Wednesday.
The figure was up 25.2 percent, or by 15.2 billion yuan, from a year earlier, the ministry said in a statement at the national lottery ticket work conference in Guangzhou.
The sales helped to raise more than 24 billion yuan of public welfare fund.
Sales in the southern booming province of Guangdong hit 8.3 billion yuan last year, continuing ranking first among all the provinces and municipalities nationwide.
