Chinese shares closed mixed at midday Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.24 percent, or 6.72 points, to close the morning session at 2,831.87.
The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.22 percent, or 27.43 points, to end at 12,675.06 at midday.
