Authorities in Chaohu city, located in central Anhui, announced a 6-month no-fishing season and a public activity of enhancement of fish breeding on February 1st , 2010. The department of fisheries will set free over 4,000 fishes of various types to the lake during the no-fishing season, including those types of fish that can purify the water, such as chub, bighead carp, etc. and local fish unique to Chaohu lake such as Chinese herring. |
