According to the 8th Chinese Citizens Scientific Literacy Survey, released by the China Association for Science and Technology, 3.27% of Chinese have basic scientific literacy, a sharp increase from the 1.60% in 2005 and 2.25% in 2007.
What is heartening is the figure for Zhejiang 5.6%, which ranks first among all the provinces in China! We can learn from the statistics that the scientific literacy of Zhejiang has improved steadily: the proportion of citizens with basic scientific literacy in Zhejiang was 2.1% in 2003, 2.55% in 2005, 2.76% in 2007, and the proportion in 2010 has doubled that of 2007.
