On the morning of March, 24th, Mr. Zhao Hongzhu, Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People s Congress met with Mr. Yu Woo-ik, South Korean Ambassador to China and his delegation. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Li Qiang, Member and Secretary-general of the standing committee of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee.
Mr. Zhao Hongzhu extended warm welcome to Mr. Yu Woo-ik on his first visit to Zhejiang and briefed them on the economic and social development of Zhejiang Province. He said that since ancient times Zhejiang and Korea had developed a very close relationship and had a long history of cooperation and communication. Currently, with the joint efforts, the two parties had laid a solid ground for further cooperation and communication. Also, Zhejiang had established a friendly relationship with Jeollanam-do and Seoul. The Province wishes to further cooperation with South Korea in the fields of economy and trade, and to get more Koran industries involved in Zhejiang s economic and social development including the construction of the Demonstration Zone for Marine Development. In addition, Zhejiang would like to take advantage of the favorable opportunity of the 5th China-Japan-South Korea Tourism Ministerial Conference held in Hangzhou in the year 2010 so as to facilitate the formation of the destination partnership between Zhejiang and South Korea.
Mr. Yu Woo-ik expressed his appreciation for the reception as well as his intention of promoting the communication and cooperation between both Korea and Zhejiang in an efficient and pragmatic manner.
