Mr. Gongzheng, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province, met with Mr. Hiroyasu Izumi, Consul General of Japan in Shanghai and his delegation in Hangzhou on March, 23nd.
Mr. Gongzheng extended warm welcome to the Japanese guests and expressed his sincere condolence to the Japanese people and deep mourning to those who lost their lives in the earthquake and tsunami. After the earthquake hit Japan, Zhejiang Province offered active support for Japan s earthquake and tsunami relief and hoped that the Japanese people in stricken areas could overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.
The meeting was followed by a signing ceremony of Japanese Favor-the-People Project and Small Grant Program. Last June, on behalf of the Sewage Treatment Project of Sidu county, Jiangshan city, the Foreign Affairs Office of People s Government of Zhejiang Province applied to the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai for 2010 Japanese Favor-the-People Project and Small Grant Program and recently received approval. It is learned that since 1994, 29 aid programs in Zhejiang Province have been granted with a total amount of over 2 million US dollars.
