Jiang Jufeng extended welcome to Shomei Yokouchi and appreciated the care and selfless aid provided by the Yamanashi government and people during the Sichuan earthquake and post-quake reconstruction. Jiang said, Sichuan is advancing post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction with all-out efforts, so we are confident that by the end of September this year, we can basically achieve the target of completing reconstruction within three years; at the same time, provincial economy has maintained a good momentum of steady and rapid growth.
As sister province and prefecture, Sichuan and Yamanashi have been conducting communication and cooperation in economy and trade, social undertakings and other fields over years. We have forged profound friendship. This visit will definitely be beneficial to deepening mutual understanding and paving the way for continuing to push forward bilateral cooperation.

Shomei Yokouchi said he was delighted to see the newly built residential houses and schools in Xiang er Town, Dujiangyan County, as well as the satisfied smiles on people s faces. The great achievements Sichuan has made in post-quake reconstruction and the rapid economic growth are very impressive. Since friendly exchange between Yamanashi and Sichuan has a history of 25 years, he hoped that both sides further strengthen governmental and non-governmental communication and cooperation so as to carry forward the traditional friendship.
