Hainan Province holds national day reception

Governor Luo Baoming addressed to the guests in the national day reception.

On September 28, 2009, Hainan Province held a national day reception to celebrate the 60thanniversary of the People's Republic of China.

Wei Liucheng, Secretary of Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People s Congress, Luo Baoming, Deputy Secretary of Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Hainan Provincial People s Government, Zhong Wen, Chairman of Hainan Provincial Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference, Long Xinmin, Deputy Director-General of Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee, and other leaders of Hainan Provincial Committee of the CPC, Hainan Provincial People s Congress, Hainan Provincial People s Government and Hainan Provincial Committee of CPPCC, as well as retired provincial leaders also attended the reception.

Distinguished guests attending the reception also include experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from the United States, Russia, Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Israel, Ireland, New Zealand, Malaysia, Canada, Cameroon, Algeria, and Germany.

Luo Baoming said, "The year 2010 is crucial to Hainan's reform and development. Hainan's goal to become an international tourism destination has been upgraded to be a national strategy, which has brought about many important favorable policies. Twenty-two years'strive and quest since Hainan became a special economic zone enables Hainan to build a solid foundation for economic development. This foundation, together with the favorable policies bestowed by the Chinese central government bestows upon Hainan a new historic opportunity and a new path of accelerated development.."

Luo also said, "we are working vigorously on matters of people's immediate concern. For example, we build more subsidized houses and increase SEZ allowance for employees of government institutions. We are also the first province in China to implement a new rural pension insurance system in the whole province. Ordinary people are getting tangible benefits. In today's Hainan, people are living and working in peace and contentment. Today's Hainan is brimming with vigor and vitality."

Luo hoped to work together to develop Hainan into a holiday-making resort for visitors and a sweet homeland for local residents through a green, open, coordinated and sustainable way.
