Police on patrol in a metro station (Guangzhou Daily)
Security checks on Guangzhou transit routes began on October 28 at all metro stations, ferry terminals and at Baiyun International Airport where all luggage pieces are required to pass through X-ray machines and passengers are searched at random. Passengers are advised to leave home earlier in the coming days and weeks as queues are expected to be long at transit points. Heightened security measures will run until after the Asian Para Games on December. 22.
