Thirteen non-Asian-Games public sports venues in Guangzhou were open to the public last month with more than 320,000 visitors spending more than 8,400 total hours at the sites.

During the Asian Games, the Guangzhou Sports Bureau officials said that football, tennis and badminton venues were especially popular among Guangzhou citizens. The Tianhe Natatorium is now open to the public, free of charge and boasts an improved water treatment system and higher water quality. During the winter, water temperature is kept above 26 making it a perfect place for citizens to swim.

In the second half of January, 150,000 citizens will have a chance to visit eleven Asian Games venues. Guangzhou city officials are also encouraging mass exercise programs to be promoted throughout the city s neighborhoods and communities.
