After inspecting Asian Para Games facilities on December 5, Guangzhou Mayor Wan Qingliang said that opportunities of the Para Games should build internationalized barrier-free facilities, so that people with disabilities can travel with ease and safety.

At Guangzhou s Baiyun International Airport, blind sidewalks in terminals fall into two categories, namely, exterior sidewalks made of stainless steel and interior ones made of rubber. A representative from the airport said, the barrier-free facilities are designed in accordance with standards applied to international airports. The sidewalks are up to international standards, said Mayor Wan.

Mayor Wan added that barrier-free facilities are one of the symbols of an international city and were essential to Guangzhou's development into a "city of care and love". Wan also said that the facilities were a prerequisite to a successful Asian Para Games.
