Guangdong Party Secretary Wang Yang stressed the regional balanced development of Guangdong Province at the Provincial People's Congress in Guangzhou on January 23, saying that it is an important element in building a "Happy Guangdong".
"Imbalanced development will make people feel unhappy," said Wang. "The gap between the wealthy and the poor is obvious in Guangdong, making it necessary to accelerate the economic transformation and upgrading," he said adding that Guangdong should strengthen its infrastructure and expand public facilities. The development of different regions should also be supported by industries according to their own regional characteristics, said Wang.
